Over 65
/ Medicare Eligible*
Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of Florida also offers a variety of health care
coverage options for Medicare eligible Floridians 65
years of age or older. Traditional Medicare Supplement
insurance policies are offered statewide. Floridians in
certain counties also have access to more economical
network-based** Medicare Supplement insurance policies.
The
Medicare Supplement insurance policies are entry age
rated and BCBSF offers a "Same Age Forever" rating
guarantee. This means premium rates are based on the age
when the member first enrolls in a Medicare supplement
insurance policy. When members premiums are increased
due to a rise in medical costs, the members rates will
be based their age at the time their policy was issued.
For
example, a member enrolled in a Medicare supplement
policy at age 66 and when premiums are increased, the
member will still be rated at age 66 even though the
member may now be 69.
Some
policies have limitations and exclusions.
